UMC TLC² Foundation Cancer Center

Lubbock, TX

About the project

The UMC TLC² Foundation Cancer Center represents a transformative investment in cancer care for West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. Developed through a partnership between UMC Health System and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, the new 120,000-square-foot academic cancer center serves as a regional destination for advanced, patient-centered cancer treatment, research, and support services. Nearly three times larger than the previous cancer center, this facility brings world-class cancer treatment, research, and support services closer to home for thousands of patients across the region.

Designed to meet the complex demands of modern cancer care, the state-of-the-art facility includes highly specialized treatment spaces such as radiation therapy vaults, infusion suites, advanced imaging, multidisciplinary clinics, research facilities, and patient support areas. The center also features expanded clinical space with dozens of exam rooms and more than 50 adult and pediatric infusion chairs, significantly increasing capacity, reducing wait times, and improving access to care. Integrative medicine, wellness programs, patient and family support services, and expanded clinical research and trial opportunities further enhance the comprehensive care experience.

Construction required the integration of sophisticated healthcare infrastructure, including complex mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems, as well as precisely coordinated clinical environments designed to support advanced treatment technologies. Stringent healthcare standards, extensive multidisciplinary coordination, and close collaboration among the owner, design team, healthcare providers, and trade partners were essential to successfully delivering this technically complex facility.

More than a healthcare facility, the UMC TLC² Foundation Cancer Center stands as a beacon of hope, innovation, and healing, ensuring that patients throughout the region have access to leading-edge cancer care while creating a lasting impact on the communities it serves for generations to come.
