Anna ISD | Rosamond-Sherley Elementary School

Anna, TX

About the project

The Rosamond-Sherley Elementary School is bridging the gap between maintaining equality with the existing elementary schools in the district and the future of Anna ISD. The school was designed with daylight as a priority, so exterior windows are in every classroom, promoting motivation, creativity, and learning. The public side of the building includes offices, a light-filled cafeteria, and a gymnasium, also designed to serve as a storm shelter, then there is a two-story classroom wing designed to support up to 800 students in Pre-K through 5th grade. The media center, the core of all the academic spaces, is filled with light from high windows overhead. There is a physical and visual connection to the media center on both levels to promote the multifunctional use of this space, and dedicated spaces for Art, Music, Special Education, and Science are positioned to provide ease of access. The exterior play areas are situated on the perimeter of the building promoting a safe and secure play area while providing excellent visual oversight by staff, and the building extends overhead providing cover for the play equipment during inclement weather. The school opened in the fall of 2022.
