Covenant Medical Center ER, Surgery & Radiology Addition
Lubbock, TX
About the project
Lee Lewis Construction provided construction services for the expansion and renovation of key clinical departments at Covenant Medical Center, including the Emergency Department, Surgery, and Radiology areas. The project was designed to enhance the hospital’s capacity to deliver advanced medical care while improving patient flow, operational efficiency, and access to critical services.
The Emergency Department expansion added approximately 15,000 SF to the existing facility, creating a modern 45-bed emergency care environment that includes an urgent care center with multiple treatment and exam rooms as well as a dedicated trauma center. Separate nursing units and support areas were incorporated to improve patient care delivery and staff workflow.
The surgical component of the project included the addition of numerous state-of-the-art operating rooms designed to support orthopedic and cardiovascular procedures. Supporting spaces such as sterile processing, equipment storage, and clinical support areas were integrated to ensure efficient surgical operations and enhanced infection control.
The radiology expansion added new diagnostic imaging capabilities, including additional radiography and X-ray rooms, a CT scanner, and associated support spaces to accommodate advanced imaging technology and improve diagnostic services for patients.
Overall, the project involved approximately 45,000 SF of new construction and 81,600 SF of renovation, requiring careful coordination to maintain hospital operations during construction. The improvements significantly enhanced Covenant Medical Center’s ability to provide high-quality emergency care, advanced surgical services, and modern diagnostic imaging to the Lubbock community and surrounding region.
