City of Lubbock - Fire Station No. 1

Lubbock, TX

About the project

Lubbock’s Fire Station No. 1 was designed to house modern ladder trucks and improve the efficiency and response time the Lubbock Fire Rescue provides to the community. This facility features four bays and includes dorm rooms for eight firefighters, three offices and one battalion chief. The attached training facility offers spaces necessary for heavy rescue training opertaions. Throughout the new station, there are pieces of history, including a full-size, antique fire truck with open-air seating and a wood ladder connected to the side in the lobby. A large rusty bell sits next to it, believed to be used in the first fire station to alert the crew and the people outside the station of a fire. There’s also an old fire pole along with some black-and-white pictures of the previous downtown fire stations in the lobby. These little bits of history help the community show respect and honor for our past Lubbock Fire Rescue teams.
