Rockwall ISD | Howard Dobbs Elementary School

Rockwall, TX

About the project

The new two-story Howard Dobbs replacement Elementary School houses pre-kindergarten through sixth-grade students, with a capacity of 765 students. The original facility, built in 1970, was demolished but the history was carried over to the new school. The design of the replacement school features similar flooring materials, paint colors, wall tiles, and the signature orange and black yellow jacket that was showcased in the original building. The new classroom wings include collaboration areas and the library, which functions as the heart of the school, leading out to a learning stair that will accommodate the needs of several classes. Natural light is abundant in every classroom and the building offers ample space ideal for spontaneous collaboration. The replacement school also includes safety and security upgrades, and technology improvements. The school opened in the fall of 2018.
